Hi.

I write this as the maintenance guys from my apartment complex are trying to figure out why our place has no hot water. Apparently, it’s the same hot water heater for 26 apartments and I’m the only one who has complained… so far. But as I told him, it is in the middle of the day on a weekday. Maybe I’m the only person at home who has noticed.

New Steps

Nothing new. Still working on the novel little by little. I have some days that are more productive than others. This week has been slower than I hoped. I ran into a major hole in the plot and need to write a scene to fill it. I didn’t even realize it was there until I re-read it… again. I probably had the same issue before and put it off. And then promptly blocked it out to protect myself. Now I have to bite the bullet and just write the damn thing, but my heart is clenching even thinking about it. It’s going to be a rough one. I need to be in a particularly vulnerable place and so far, I haven’t been able to manage it.

The Breakdown

I have gotten back into the habit of listening to audio books. I used to listen to them while commuting, and since I haven’t been doing that the last couple of months, I got out of the habit. But, I decided a few weeks ago to give listening to fiction on audio another chance. I talked about this in a previous article. But the gist of it is, I have a hard time not getting knocked out of the story by a narrator doing all the voices. But, I have found I don’t have as much an issue with the same sex romances I listen to for obvious reasons.

I found a romance on Audible, liked the story, and since it was not available on my Nook, I ended up getting a few more of them on audio. Then I found another series bundle that had the same voice actor. I like his voice. That opened a can of worms and led to the current series I’m listening to, The Significant Brothers series by E. Davies. Not the same voice actor, but another that I am enjoying. I’m on book three and I’m loving it. Loving it so much that the last few days have been dedicated to listening to it whenever I get the chance. Probably too much. At this point I’m fairly certain it has tipped over into avoidance of writing the scene. Oh well. We all have our coping mechanisms.

Living Life

And, maintenance has just informed me that the water heater has gone out for all the buildings. And they won’t be able to get someone out here until Monday to look at it. Who knows when it will be fixed or replaced. At least it isn’t winter. That helps a lot. Regardless, they are going to have a lot of pissed off residents. Looks like a cold shower before my interview on Monday.

Oh, yeah. I have an interview. Everyone please keep your fingers crossed for me. The job sounds right up my alley, both in line with my skills and dynamic enough so I won’t get bored.

As always, thanks for checking out the site and I hope everyone is doing well. If you feel so inclined, check out my social media and head over to Medium.com for exclusive content. For anyone who is a Medium member, I do get a stipend for any claps I get, so you’d be helping me out.

‘Til next time.
